Massage may be medicine's oldest and simplest form
of care, going back thousands of years to
ancient societies in China, Egypt and Greece where it was the principle
means of relieving pain.
Today, various forms of massage are used
in intensive care units, for children with chronic diseases, elderly
people who struggle with their range of motion, babies in incubators and
patients with cancer, heart attacks or strokes.
Anna Piludu's own life's story is one of the healing properties of
massage therapy, finding relief from chronic pain symptoms do to the lingering effects of a
life-threating car accident.
Her transforming experiences have given Anna insight into the needs of
others.
There are several techniques available.
Swedish Massage is the most basic massage techniques.
Swedish is used for relaxing the body and mind.
Swedish, although relaxing, does not address pain or dysfunction
issues. Use Swedish to treat
yourself, a way of decompressing after a stressful week.
Neuromuscular Therapy is more of a corrective form of bodywork.
Neuromuscular Therapy focuses on postural
disturbances, and chronic pain issues. Even a fall down the stairs a
decade ago can have an effect on the body years later. Neuromuscular Therapy
focuses on changing the signal between the muscles and the brain.
